Inhibitors are the first line of defense against corrosion. In oil and gas fields and production systems, they mitigate the risk of corrosion caused by CO2, H2S, organic acids, and more, addressing localized, under deposit, galvanic, and other forms of corrosion that can lead to equipment failures.

    Corrosion is a common problem in oilfield where usually steel and metal equipments like pipes, tubing, casing and other accessories are used that are highly susceptible to corrosion. In an oilfield the produced crude oil is transmitted through a network of pipeline. This oil contains impurities like hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide etc which when react with metal surfaces result in corrosion.

    Therefore in order to safeguard the pipelines and equipment in oilfields, water soluble corrosion inhibitors are used. A water soluble corrosion inhibitor includes long chain amines, amides or imidazoline kind of ingredients which can control the rate of corrosion by forming a thin layer or film on the surface of the material. This layer acts as a barrier between the corrosion causing substance and corrosive equipments and thus corrosion is controlled. These pipeline corrosion inhibitors can safeguard the network of pipes in an oilfield from corrosion caused due to factors like water, biological deposits, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and other organic acids associated with drilling in an oil-field.

    Product introduction

    Corrosion is an ever present issue for crude oil production and flow stream delivery handling. Numerous methods to identify, prevent or remove corrosion exist from the chemical inhibitors, pipeline alloy selection, coating, isolation, and cathodic protection.

    With extensive corrosion inhibitor development and testing capability in every major oil and gas basin, we are well positioned to design test programs that replicate your field environment and to recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

    In order to exploit CO2-containing oil and gas reservoirs, 13Cr martensitic stainless steel tubing has been used, which has been rapidly popularized due to its good performance. At the same time, in order to improve the application in high  Cl- environment, people also improve the 13Cr, and get Super 13Cr martensitic stainless steel, which has become the main tubing material for CO2 and CO2/H2S reservoirs. However, the cost of stainless steel is much higher than that of conventional carbon steel, which makes the corrosion protection of the related pipes particularly important. In the high temperature of the souring environment, the corrosion resistance of the pipe has put forward quite high requirements, the corrosion of the oil pipe is not only related to the recovery rate of the oilfield, but also to ensure the production safety of the foundation.

    In the high temperature simulation environment, the ordinary carbon steel acid corrosion inhibitor could not protect the 13Cr or super 13Cr steel effectively. The experiment shows that the sample corrosion is serious and the corrosion rate is far beyond the Standard requirements. So, it need a special corrosion inhibitor for 13Cr or super 13Cr steel during acid treatment. UZ CI-160C is a highly effective 13Cr or super 13Cr steel acid inhibitor at temperature up to 160℃ (320°F). Corrosion inhibitor UZ CI-160C is a blend of mannich base, alcohol, and surfactant in an aqueous solvent system. Corrosion inhibitor UZ CI-160C is a highly concentrated inhibitor and is effective in concentrated acid solutions at higher bottomhole temperatures. it exhibits excellent dispersibility in water and acid solutions, resulting in good inhibitor distribution and protection.

    Application 

    UZ CI-160C is recommended for use in all concentrations of HCL and HCL/HF (mud acid) mixtures up to 160℃ (320°F). It is better to add UZ CI-160C into the acid during the loading operations to ensure better dispersion.The dosge is dependent on acid type, strength, bottom-hole temperature, contact time, and additional additives.

    Recommended dosage 

    Corrosion inhibitor UZ CI-160C can be used for 13Cr, super 13Cr steel to prevent acid corrosion, at a given temperature, the corrosion rate can reach oil ministerial standard of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC, SY/T5405-1996) .The recommended dosage of this product by volume of acid (BVOA) in different temperature is as follows:

    Recommended Handling

    All personnel handling this material must handle it as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as described in the Material Safety Data Sheet.

    Packaging and Storage

    Packed in 200Litre drum or 1000 Litre IBC (Tote Tank).

    Store in dry, well-ventilated area. Keep container closed. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Store away from incompatibles. Follow safe warehousing practices regarding palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping and /or stacking.
